What is the Procyon?
The Procyon is a rugged handheld, which gives location accuracies down to 1-2cm using additional GPS capabilities you won't see in standard devices.
The Procyon comes in 4 different variants all offering different accuracy capabilities (2-15m, 70cm-1m, 30-50cm, 1-2cm) depending on how you want to use the device and the application.
The Procyon can be used in various applications from highway maintenance, yard management, street furniture maintenance, vehicle locating or reporting and land surveying.

Why the Workabout Pro 3?
By integrating a high specification GNSS receiver into the Psion Workabout Pro 3 handheld computer, the Procyon becomes the first mainstream handheld that can address the elite data capture market. Combined with a comprehensive range of connectivity, data input and communications options, the Procyon offers a uniquely robust range of capabilities for customers.
This broad range is made possible by the expandability and customisation capabilities inherent to Psion's Open Source Mobility strategy. The Procyon range offers cost effective solutions to mobile workers who need standard and high accuracy geo-fixing capability. Combined with the integrated Blackroc colour camera, the Procyon adds visual feature detail for geo-location of assets and ground features. Applications for the Procyon include construction, field service, utility mapping, highway maintenance, local authority mapping and emergency services.
All the devices in the Procyon™ range come with a colour camera for taking geo referenced pictures. Photos can be stored on-board with the 1GB of flash memory or using the external SD card slot for additional memory.
With 1GB internal memory expandable by SD card, an Internal GSM modem that allows connection to network corrections, file data transfer, Internet or even e-mail, the Procyon™ represents a truly versatile solution.
Built-in Bluetooth® wireless technology and WiFi connectivity is available as an option on the Workabout.
The removable high capacity 4.4Ah rechargeable Li-ion battery can power the unit for up to 6 hours in GPS mode.Based on a field proven quality handheld from one of the top global manufacturers, the Procyon™ has a wide choice of docking cradles, batteries, different keypads and long/short formats.
The convenient side buttons on the Procyon™ can be configured for data capture, allowing for one-handed operation whilst reducing movement of the device when collecting accurate geospatial coordinates.
Unlike other devices which feature soft keypads, the Procyon™ comes with a real, tactile keypad to facilitate data entry.
